Promontory is a large residential subdivision overlooking Sardis. Originally the land was owned by a few farmers and used for growing crops, fruit trees, raising livestock as well as logging operations. The population of Promontory currently sits just over 2,800, but is expected to climb above 6,000 upon completion. Currently, there are no condos in the Promontory area however there are plenty of townhomes, duplexes, single family homes and bare lots. The majority of these homes are newer, built in 1986 or later, yet you’ll find them to be more affordable than in the heart of Sardis itself. Presently, there are two access points to get you to Promontory. One is Prest Road and the other is Promontory Road which seems to attract the majority of the traffic being that it’s the main feeder route from the city’s core.
Besides the reasonably priced housing, the selection of nearby schools is another feature that makes Promontory such a desired area for many families. Promontory Heights Elementary may be the only school in Promontory itself, however there are several schools just down the hill in Sardis. Promontory also has many parks and various walking and hiking trails including Mt. Thom.
